 Hospice Wines

Domaine Meo-Camuzet, Meursault Genevrieres “Hospices de Beaun”

Domaine Meo-Camuzet, Pommard BillardetHospices de Beaun”

The Hospices de Beaune was founded in 1443 for the care of the sick, the needy and the old people of Beaune France. In order to ensure the income of the Hospices, Nicolas Rolin endowed it with a heritage of land. Five hundred years of donations and bequests have given the Hospices a total count of around 57 hectares of Grands Crus and Premiers Crus. The Hospices produces prestigious wines,  which according to traditions dating back to 1859, are sold by public auction every November. Great wine makers bid charitably for the barrels produced in “The Hospice”. The money raised is used for maintenance of the properties, modernization of the hospital center, the purchase of medical equipment & improvement of the facilities for old people. This auction is the most famous of all the Burgundian festivals and forms the greatest charity sale in the world.

The Nimrod Restaurant is proud to support these generous wine makers, in appreciation of this  tradition a portion of the proceeds from these wines will be donated to The McCarthy Hospice House.
